His Handmaids

Make plans now to attend a very special performance the weekend of June 30-July 1 when Cornerstone hosts His Handmaids from Richmond VA.

His Handmaids, founded in 1988, is a liturgical dance troupe for girls ages 7 through early 20’s. Being a handmaid is fertile ground where girls learn many foundational and refreshing life skills. Discipline, relationship building, love for God, and Biblical foundations of dance prepare them to be worship leaders. Structure and boundaries balanced with flexibility and change equip the group as a disarming yet powerful army going forth with the Gospel. Their teamwork with pure hearts makes the group as ready clay in the hands of God. Older Handmaids receive teaching and on-the-job leadership training as they learn how to shepherd and disciple younger girls, experience the responsibility of small groups, and become models of faith and commitment.

P.S. Host families needed for June 30 thru July 2. If your home is open to overnight guests, please call the church at (302) 836-2862 and we'll put you in touch with our Accommodations coordinator Janet Swanson.

Memorial Day 2007

View photo album here

Somewhere along the time line of everyday life, the Memorial Day weekend became closely associated with a 3-day kick off to summer, Route 1 bumper-to-bumper traffic and the unmistakable smell of hamburgers on backyard grills; while the true meaning of the holiday took a back seat. This weekend at Cornerstone we set aside an hour to try and right the perspective. Memorial Day is when you should remember the high cost to what we too often take for granted, freedom. So, before you gas up your car to head toward the beach or start thawing out those Angus patties, set aside a moment to honor those who paid the ultimate price, with their lives, the American soldier.
