Honey, We're Home!

The short-term missionaries are back, safe and sound, on American soil. Sounds like they had an amazing trip to Haiti.

Stay tuned for lots of pictures and some great stories.

Jump In!

The summer camp kids just got back from a wet and wonderful day at Killen's Pond. Doesn't that water look inviting???

Malaria Kills.

Malaria kills 3,000 children each day, every day ... that's one life every 30 seconds. In the time it takes you to finish reading this sentence another child will have taken his last breath.

Nothing But Nets is a global, grassroots campaign to save lives by preventing malaria, a leading killer of children in Africa. Sports Illustrated columnist Rick Reilly challenged his readers to donate $10 for the purchase of an anti-malaria bed net, and thousands of people have joined the campaign. The people of The United Methodist Church, along with Sports Illustrated, NBA Cares, the United Nations Foundation and several other groups, are raising funds to purchase bed nets to end malaria.

Cornerstone Church already supports Nothing But Nets through its needy fund. This weekend there is an awareness campaign to bring the news of this tragedy to the attention of the general public. If you would like to support this mission, above and beyond what your regular tithes and offerings already do, indicate "NBN" in the memo section of your check and indicate a dollar amount.
God Bless You.

Haiti Update ...

Our short-term missionaries will be returning to the U.S. tomorrow (FRI), a day later than originally planned. Looks like they're doing just fine, though!

Haiti Update ...

From Matt & Stacey Ayars' Blog ...

"Welcome, Cornerstone!

After the airline they had tickets with 'disappeared' (went under), it took this team almost 12 hours to get here from Florida. Five bags are still missing, and it is HOT (really, really hot).

And yet, the joy of the Lord is clearly their strength, because this awesome group from Cornerstone Church in Bear, DE has been amazing! Yesterday, they painted and painted the new seminary like crazy, getting a remarkable amount done. Today, despite horror stories of the steep hike, burning sun and hounding vendors, they are off to the Citadel for another adventure!
And in between, they are laughing, positive, and just plain an encouragement and joy to be around! Thank you, Cornerstone, for sending your friends and family to bless us, and many many others, this week! Don, from Sharptown Church in New Jersey, also returned to the field Thursday, staying through the end of August to try to complete the seminary construction. We are SO glad to have him back!

It is just plain good to be home! Even with the heat, Matt, Lily and I are as happy as can be to be here, and we're having such a good time catching up with friends and getting back to work. As blessed as we were by our many speaking opportunities this summer, it is great to be back to doing what He has made us to do!"

Iraqi Dust Storm

Thanks to our overseas friend, Ken Fowler, who witnessed this dust storm over one of the palaces earlier this month. The setting sun turns it an orange color and is so massive it can be seen from outer space.

Do you know Ken? Why not drop him an email with a word of encouragment from back home. Click here to email Ken Fowler.

Science Scholars

The Cornerstone Summer Camp kids went to the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia yesterday where they took part in all kinds of wonderful experiments, like looking through a giant telescope and learning about centrifigual force.

Artifical Nature Hike

Several youngsters, and their adult chaperones, from the CEEYC took a trail ride on a steel pony Thursday in search of wild animals. While they didn't find any real ones, they were able to pick out, stuff and dress some of their own at Christiana Mall's Build-a-Bear store. Oh my!

Ver-rrrrrry Interesting!

(Photos by Lisa Tyre)

48 enthusiastic summer campers went on a field trip yesterday to the Delaware Museum of Natural History in Wilmington. Evidently, they worked all the "bugs" out and had a great time!
